Imagine
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
(by John Lennon)

A song worth remembering. Love and peace to all....I hope you are doing well.

The Choice Is Ours
Ok, has anybody else noticed the rise in people claiming to be 'bi-polar"?
Seems nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions anymore. They would rather blame it on something other than their own bad choices.
If a person acts like an asshole it is usually because that is how they "choose" to act. The don't respect the thoughts and feelings of others because they "choose" not to. And when confronted about their behavior they say things like "I can't help it I'm bi-polar" and a few truly are,  but most are just selfish, self centered assholes!
A person can choose how to respond to others just by being "self aware". And the times the choose to act hatefully, they have the choice to correct that behavior by sincere apologies.
We choose be be hateful, grouchy and mean spirited....we don't have to be.
Every one should take a good look at their selves in the "mirror of the soul" everyday and ask their selves "Do I like who I am? Am I the person I really want to be? How can I a better Me?"
Self examination is key to being a good person. And some of us really need to work at it. For others it comes easily.
Everyday is a test of our love and patience with ourselves as well as with others. But our children are watching and we are setting the examples. Who do we want them to be? Do we want them to be people who blame their bad behavior on "diseases"? Or people who take responsibility for their actions and work to correct them?
Once again, the choice is ours.

Some things should never be "Put off"
So, I got this great idea. I wanted to take a "family vacation" to Disney World. I am 51 and have never been and the big kid inside me still dreams of going!
We could all save our money for a few years, rent a van and a condo and live the Disney dream! Surely by 2012 we could have enough money to go and do it up right...right?
I called the kids and pitched my idea...they were  all game. So, I began to search the internet for great deals on tickets and condos. But about a week after I began I went into work one day and one of my co-workers came up to me and said "Did you hear about poor Kathy? Her son was found dead by the road yesterday!
Kathy is a dear sweet lady that works the day shift. And apparently her 23 year old son had died (accidentally...not sure of the details) while out on his bike.
I thought about my kids , grand kids and great grand kids.I thought- life is like a roulette wheel. It could have just as easily been one of my family who had died that day. Maybe our vacation would have "one less person" in 3 years. Did I really want to wait to have my family all together ? Was "Disney" the important thing? Or was it just being together that my heart was desiring?
That afternoon when I got home I returned to the computer. This time I typed "Branson" in my search engine. I looked at all my savings...yep ...I could do it. I could rent a lovely large log house for the whole family in the heart of the Ozarks..Branson...USA! They would only need to save for their tickets to Silver Dollar City .I would not wait for 3 years...I could do this in 6 months!!!
I called the kids and their response was "great Mom...lets do it!" So now we're all looking forward to our "family vacation". Oh, we'll get together for our family BBQ on the forth of July to cook and play volley ball. But come the end of the summer we'll all be together in one house, making memories, and remembering days gone by.
I hope we will all be there. I hope will all my heart life's wheel of chance doesn't steal away any of my precious children!
Thanks to Kathy's son I have been reminded that "some things should never be put off."

Well I must say...I just don't get it. why all the crap about saying "Merry Christmas"? I am a non believer and I say "Merry Christmas" and I am not offended by "In God we trust" on my money either. Just give me money I could care less what is written on it. And if someone doesn't want to say "One nation under god" then for goodness sake...don't say it. And if you want to say it ..do. And if you don't want to pray in school, then don't. But if you do want to pray in school, shut your mouth and pray silently...what's all the fuss?
All this nit picking and political correctness drives me nuts. Everybody is just looking for something to bitch about I think. Someone said "God bless you" to me at work yesterday. I responded with "You too". Does that make me a believer? No. It makes me a thoughtful human. I am sure that person who said "god bless you" was really hoping I would be blessed by their god. That is kindness...pure and simple. And the kind response was to wish that they also be blessed by their god.
So to all you Christians I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
To all you Jews...Happy Hannukah!
Happy Kwanza to those who keep it!
Happy winter solstice to you pagans!
And everybody else...Have a nice day and Don't worry...be happy!

The Package
A Fable:
There once was a man looking for a wife. So he went downtown to the "wife store" in hopes of purchasing one.
The  man walked into the store and told the clerk " I am looking for wife'. "And what did you have in mind?" replied the clerk. "I want a wife who is beautiful and sexy!" said the young man.
The clerk led  him into a large room filled with "packages" of every shape inside. Some were wrapped with beautiful colored paper and big bows while others were very plain .
"Take your pick" said the clerk . When you have made your choice just place your package into the converter and your new wife will appear.

So the man looked around the room until he saw a package covered in beautiful ornate paper and tied with a lovely silk bow. "I'll take this one the man exclaimed!
Hurriedly he untied the bow, and unwrapped the package. But as he began to open the box a foul smell began to fill the room and when he reached the inside of the box he found it was empty.

What is this? he exclaimed. He threw the box aside and began to search for another. He soon found a box covered  in tasteful paper,  neatly wrapped with crisp sharp edges. I'll try this one he said.
But when he opened the box it was fill with "rocks".

Once again he tossed the box aside and began rummaging through the packages. He soon found a package wrapped in plain paper tied with a simple yellow ribbon. He opened the box and inside he found it full of smiles  and warm feelings. "This one is nice...I think I will take it" he said.

He started towards the "converter" to turn his package into his new wife, when he saw the clerk standing in the corner next to a large battered box, wrapped in brown paper tied with a simple string.
The clerk asked him "Sir did you find what you were looking for?"
"I think so said the man . How much does it cost?" "Very little replied the clerk. This one is reasonably priced and has a warranty to boot!
"What about the first package I opened , was it defective?" asked the man."No sir" said the clerk. It is a very expensive package! Covered in Only the finest materials! It is a package you can enjoy looking at everyday. But, you must be willing to put up with the bad smell and I'm sorry to say, it mostly for "visual enjoyment".It is hollow on the inside."

"What about the second one" asked the man. "Ah yes," said the clerk. "That is our sharpest model. It's pleasant to look at, very smart, but hard as rock on the inside. It too will cost you a great deal"

"And this package, what about it sir?" the man nervously asked. "That is one our our finest packages! It's not all that beautiful but inside it is a delight! It is well made and requires very little maintenance!I'm sure you'll be very pleased with it!

"Thank you" said the man as he began to walk to the converter. As he placed his "package" in the converter he looked back at the clerk who was carefully dusting the large box.
"Sir" he said "please tell me about that package".

"The old clerk smiled and said "Ah yes, though this package is large and bulky it is our finest model! Though it's  covering is not so pleasant, inside it is filled with the finest treasures on earth! It takes a large package to hold so many wonderful things! And it comes with a lifetime guarantee!
But sadly , it is always overlooked."
"Sir I ask you again, did you find what you were looking for?"

It is a shame that so often wonderful, special women and men are over looked due to their appearance. The rose is a beautiful with a wonderful fragrance, yet, it is covered in thorns that will prick you and cause you to bleed. Some of the simplest flowers are the sweetest!
I have a large friend (about 350lbs ) and she is the sweetest women in the world! She is a great cook and a wonderful seamstress with the voice of an angel. But when men look at the "package" they turn away because of her size never bothering to open the box.
